Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday urged the Centre to give fertiliser subsidy to farmers and criticised the Left parties for not opposing the Centre’s decision in 2009 to decontrol fertiliser prices.

Following the death of a number of infants in West Bengal government run hospitals in recent times, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights has asked the state to spell out in detail steps taken to tackle the situation.
